Differences in the Showa Mothras
All of the Mothra larvas from this era look pretty much the same. There are slight differences in the color of the larvas eye's, face, & body. One example, of the larvas eyes are from the movies Mothra vs Godzilla 1964 & Ghidorah: the Three-Headed Monster also from 1964. In the movie, Mothra vs Godzilla, the color of the larva's eyes are blue, but in Ghidorah, they are red. Then, the faces of the larvas are a little different as well, because in Mothra vs Godzilla, the larva's faces look wrinkly, & rough almost. But when you see the Ghidorah larva, her face looks smoother, it's hard to describe. Although, the faces of the 1964 Mothra larvas look different, their bodies are the same, which is not the case with the 1961 larva. Here are a few of them to name a couple: the color of the bodies, & the design on the bodies. The color of the 1961 Mothra larva is so light, but the 1964 versions are super dark. Also, the spots are way more apparent on the 1961 larva. The Destroy All Monsters larva is the same as the Ghidorah version.
For the adults in the Showa series, there are differences in the coloration of the wings, the eyes, & the overall look of the wings. For example, with the 1961, 1964, & 1966, Godzilla vs The Sea Monster, adult Mothras, the 1961 version has oval eyes while the 1964 & 1966 Mothras have round eyes. Then, when you can actually see the legs of the '64 & '68, but the '61 Mothra has her legs tucked away & are barley visible. Finally, the '66 Mothra has a lot of fluff on her wings, while the other two do not.
Showa Mothra's Filmogrphy
Mothra's first stared in, 1961's Mothra. It's your basic monster movie. Except I don't think many monster movies have a giant caterpillar that hatches out of an egg, goes to Tokyo to rescue her Fairies, & has that same caterpillar make a cocoon, & finally turn into a giant flying moth where if you draw a giant cross it will come to you to you, or you can have the Fairies sing the Mothra song to draw Mothra to you. Then, she starred in Toho's Mothra vs Godzilla, 1964. Where Mothra's egg gets washed up on a shore, & is sold for a lot of money. But the people who bought it only want to make more money by making the egg an attraction. Then, Mothra's Fairies try to convince the bad guys to give them Mothra's egg back. After that, Godzilla appears & the good humans convince Mothra to fight him. So while fighting, Mothra gets injured & dies, but then her egg hatches & the larvae go & defeat Godzilla. The next movie she was in was Ghidorah: the Three-Headed Monster, also from 1964. All Mothra does in this movie is convince Godzilla & Rodan to help her fight King Ghidorah. Two years later, she was briefly in Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, & all she does is rescue the humans from being blown up. Finally, in 1964's Destroy All Monsters, she made her last appearance in the Showa series, where she was under mind control & rampaged through the cities of Japan. But, the humans broke the mind control & was one of the many monsters to help defeat King Ghidorah.
